
Among his professional credits is a three year assignment as director of Radio Engineering for Multimedia Radio and a similar association as Vice-President and Director of Engineering for Cumulus Media, where he supervised the technical performance of over 300 broadcast stations.
A Fellow of the Society of Broadcast Engineers, he served as the Society's President from 1995-1997, served as Chair of its Certification Committee from 1998-2001, and continues to serve as a member of that Committee. Baun has
been a member of the Audio Engineering Society
for more than twenty-five years.
In 1992 Terry Baun was named "Engineer of the Year" by the Society
of Broadcast Engineers--the first time this award was ever conferred. He
is listed in Who's Who in the Midwest, and Criterion Broadcast
Services is listed in the nationally-published Consultants
and Consulting Organizations Directory.
He was one of four engineers in
Wisconsin selected to receive specialized FCC
training in connection with the Wisconsin
Broadcasters Association/FCC Alternative Inspection
Program, participates in similar programs
in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, and was honored
by induction into the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association
Hall of Fame in 2004.
Terry Baun makes educational presentations to broadcast trade groups, stations, and SBE chapters throughout the country, was the keynote speaker at the 1996 National Public Radio Technical Conference in Washington, D.C., and has also served as a technical consultant to the VOA. SBE named him "Educator of the Year" in 2003 for his work in furthering broadcast technical education. He has published many trade journal articles, is co-author of a chapter on Technical Documentation in the Electronics Handbook published in 1996 by CRC Press, Inc., and is a contributing author for the current edition of the NAB Engineering Handbook.
